K-pop gains ground in Middle East and Australia
K-pop is getting lots of attention from countries in the Middle East and Australia.
A K-pop singing contest was held in Egypt on July 28. The first of its kind in the country, the event drew 40 participants and a large audience that included university students, doctors and office workers.
Most of the participants learned K-pop songs on the internet, and performed hits from their favorite idol groups.
Meanwhile, K-pop is taking off Australia, with teenagers demonstrating at Martin Place by singing their favorite Korean songs to demand an SM Town concert. In response, SM Town said they would plan a concert for November or December of this year.
